LEMONGRASS
Cymbopogon citratus
Lemongrass is in the family of grasses called Poaceae, but it is easily distinguished by its lemon-like scent! It has been cultivated in the tropics and subtropics of South and Southeast Asia, Africa and Australia for thousands of years. There are two main species of lemongrass that have been grown for a variety of culinary, medicinal and perfume-making purposes.
Lemongrass is an important ingredient in many South and Southeast Asian cuisines, including Indian, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian and Filipino cooking. It can be used in curries, soups, meat, sauces and more.
