Nature Adventures Camp

Thank you for your interest in Duke Gardens' Nature Adventures Camp, a day camp for children entering grades K-5. We look forward to exploring the wonders of nature with your children.

2013 camp themes

Nature Adventures: Prowl your way around the Gardens to discover animal habitats, learn how clever plants can be, and become a scientist for a week of nature adventures!

Become a Gardener: Plant and harvest fruits and vegetables in the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden. Learn how soil is made and play with chickens as you discover how food gets to your plate.

Eco Artists: Get inspired by the shapes, colors, and patterns of nature! Explore the Gardens through art as you sharpen your creativity and observation skills.

DATES: Camps are scheduled April 1-5 and each week from June 10-August 2, with the exception of the week of July 1-5. Children may sign up for any or all weeks. Activities will be different every week. A non-refundable $100 deposit per child per week is required to reserve a spot. Full payment is due 2 weeks before camp.

HOURS: 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday-Friday. Extended care available from 1-4 p.m.

COST: $175 per week; $150 for each additional sibling; $100/week for extended care.Scholarship application available upon request.


LOCATION: Arrival & pickup at the Doris Duke Center, Duke Gardens, 420 Anderson St., Durham. Camp activities will take place in the Gardens.

April 1-5: Nature Adventures (K-5)
June 10-14: Become a Gardener (K-2); Eco Artists (3-5)
June 17-21: Nature Adventures (K-2); Become a Gardener (K-5)
June 24-28: Eco Artists (K-5)
July 8-12: Become a Gardener (K-5)
July 15-19: Nature Adventures (K-5)
July 22-26: Eco Artists (K-5)
July 29-Aug. 2: Nature Adventures (K-5)
