families enjoy Harvest Festival activities

Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, 1-4 p.m.

Celebrate the fall season in the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden. We'll have fun and informative activities for all ages, led by Duke Gardens and other local groups.

- Join an interactive music discovery through the Music Lab with Mr. Steve
- Plant a seed to take home and learn about other seeds to plant in the fall
- Learn how Iglesia Presbiteriana Emanuel's food pantry distributes the produce grown in the Discovery Garden to address food insecurity in Durham
- Hear stories from the Black Lit Library read by Stormie Daie
- Learn about chickens, carnivorous plants, composting and what's growing in the Discovery Garden
- Get free seeds from the Digging Durham Seed Library
- Taste tropical produce from around the world with the Museum of Life + Science
- Learn about cob, a building material made from clay, sand and straw, and try mixing your own. Read more about the cob arch here.
- Build your connection with plants and learn about relationality
- Taste honey samples and learn about honey bees from the Durham County Beekeepers

This is a free drop-in event, though Duke University parking fees apply. Adult chaperone required for children. If the weather forecast is rainy, please check back for updates regarding the activities we'll offer. We look forward to celebrating with you!
