Basic Botany and Plant Growth

How does a plant grow? How does it manage water and nutrients? What factors influence the production of flowers and fruits? This course will explore these questions and more, using a combination of lecture and hands-on approaches. Learn from Alec Motten, associate professor emeritus from Duke University’s Department of Biology. Participants have said Alec’s enthusiasm and skillful instruction make the topic come alive.

Meeting dates: Thursdays, Feb. 15-Mar. 8, 6-9 p.m.

Location: Meet at the Doris Duke Center.

Participant limit: 15.

Fee: Gardens members $120; general public $150.

Qualifies as a Home Horticulture Certificate required course.
