Stonework of Duke Gardens

Tour the incredible stonework of Duke Gardens with artisan stone mason Brooks Burleson. Learn about the swales, mosaics, pathways, benches, bridges, walls and more that he has created throughout the Gardens. Learn about Brooks’ techniques for moving a two-ton boulder or placing hundreds of mosaic pieces.  Discuss site considerations, materials, limitations and practical, functional design choices that solve problems, maximize the beauty of stone and support healthy garden ecology.

Fee: $24; 20% discount for Duke Gardens members with discount code.

Parking: Parking fees apply.

Location: Meet at the Barnes Welcome Center.

Accessibility: This will be a small group program that takes place outdoors, traveling on a combination of paved and unpaved paths with some uneven surfaces, moderate inclines and stairs.
