Elements of the Garden Series: Fire

With Martin Jahn, horticulturist in the Culberson Asiatic Arboretum at Duke Gardens

A garden is a balance of choices made in relationship with the elements of earth, wind, fire and water. Join Martin to explore the way these elements show up in a garden and in the practices, humans have used to cultivate gardens for millennia.

In this session, learn how fire can shape land and condition soil, consider uses for fire in your vegetable and/or ornamental garden and discuss the difference between controlled and sacred burns.

Look for other sessions in this series on February 15 (air), March 15 (water) and April 19 (earth). Register separately for each session.
