April 22 is Earth Day, a time to honor the wonderful world we live in! Learn more about Earth Day and ways to connect with people celebrating Earth Day around the world.

Here are some prompts and resources to help you celebrate and learn more about our home planet.

Outdoor Activities

  • Join us from 10-11:30 a.m. and noon-4 p.m. Friday in the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden at Duke Gardens to plant seeds together. This drop-in event is free and for people of all ages.
  • Enjoy our self-guided visit resources for families.
  • Use iNaturalist to document biodiversity in Durham County. The Durham Bioblitz is a great way to connect with your environment while generating useful data for science and conservation and having fun. Simply download the iNaturalist app from the App Store and upload photos of plants and animals you see during Bioblitz week. Check out the Durham Bioblitz website for more information and in-person events you can attend.
