Artists in the Gardens Workshop: Perspective (for ages 9-12)

Mon, November 20, 2017, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Explore different perspectives. Discover the way garden design creates the views you see. Try out 1- and 2-point perspective drawing and investigate alternate compositions. Use art to hone your observation skills and express yourself!

About this series: Art can communicate everything from how you are feeling to the close relationship between a caterpillar and its host plant. In this workshop series, we’ll explore habitats, uncover wildlife and identify plants while learning about art and making our own. Each workshop will use photography and other media, including drawing, painting and collage.

Classes will include time to investigate the garden, make connections, create art and share work with the group. Join us for the full series or sign up for individual workshops. Bring your own digital camera; any kind is great, from cell phones to DSLRs. All other materials will be provided.

For children ages 9-12.

Location: Meet at the Doris Duke Center.

Workshop dates: Texture (10/2); Water (10/23); Fall Color (11/6); Perspective (11/20).

Fee: Gardens members $16 per class; general public $20. Register for all 4 classes at $14/$18 per class. Parking pass included with advance registration.
